I have actually been attending the Church of the Great Outdoors for a couple of weeks now and it is very healing. I wish I had some of those posts still. :-) I used the manual setting but I couldn't tell you the shutter/aperture settings. I'm still just practicing with all this stuff so half the time I don't remember what I used and didn't. I'm thankful that Flickr keeps somewhat of a record! And, Beth, I have a Konica Dimage z2 - nothing spectacular. Thanks all of you for your encouragement!

I keep returning to this shot. I think what is so inviting about it it that you haven't shot the front of the flower. You've taken a very common emblem/icon (the sunflower) and you've twisted it to see it in a new way. And the lighting and focus all help with that, but at root, it's the choice you made in composition that really sets it apart.
Yes, I agree with Beth. I also like the way you caught that contrasting blue to highlight/feature the yellow. Wonderful composition.
And I was going to mention Beth's Church of the Great Outdoors when I saw your caption too but Dalissa beat me to it.

Nikki, this one is just beautiful! I love seeing the sun through the leaves - a true *sun*flower. The blue sky in the distance really sets off that yellow.
Your quote stayed on my mind too. When things got rough the past few days I headed outside and it made me feel better.
