My City

You can see the urban sprawl in the background . . .

To one who has been long in city pent,
'Tis very sweet to look into the fair
And open face of heaven, - to breathe a prayer
Full in the smile of the blue firmament.
~John Keats, Sonnet XIV

Is this a photo from your backyard, Nikki? I like how you can see for miles and miles.

Ah Jeez. Makes my chest feel tight, remembering what Jacksonville felt like in city traffic on a hot, hazy day. I used to concentrate on trees and smaller details too; to find beauty where I could and let it be my focus. Still, I can breathe better now. Photos can be such powerful thought triggers.

I remember that look. My entire childhood is summed up in that picture.

Susan - this isn't my backyard. I wish it was. It's in the foothills of the mountains about 2 miles north of us looking out onto our city. :-)
