Contest

I am going to enter a juried show on Monday and am trying to decide which photo to use. It is such a long process and I know I am my harshest critic. I have these two plus two more that I am printing out tonight so I can see what I like better.

The real contest is always between what you've done and what you're capable of doing. You measure yourself against yourself and nobody else.

I vote for the second of these two. Because the dogs paws are cut off, and because the dog scene is flatter (from a contrast point of view). Content-wise, both are nice, but in very different ways.

I vote for the second one two, but I don't have a real reason. I just like it better! :-)

Good for you!
I like both, the top one because it has so much in it and the bottom one because it seems so deceptively simple.

I also vote for the second one. The contrast and angle are really nice, and somehow the first one seems too busy in composition.

Good for you for entering a juried show! :) You go, girlfriend!

I like the second one better also but my taste is usually pretty simple!

I like the second one better too, it almost seems like it is black and white and yet it is not.

The contest deadline for entry is today so I will be submitting something (still deciding now that I have a few desert pieces I like) before midnight. I won't even hear if I made it into the show until mid-March. They go thru a couple of thousand photos and only choose about a hundred so who knows. It's worth a shot tho!

I vote for Number Two also. GOOD LUCK! Since I'm late here, how did it turn out?

BTW, LOVE the quote...so true!
