Homemade TTV

This might be kind of cheating, but I didn't actually take this "through the viewfinder". Instead I took it with my Canon, cropped it, and added the frame and scratches with Photoshop.

When you realize how perfect everything is you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky.

On the Outside

I have been listening to this song lately and it's really hit me where I'm at. Figuring out thru a long process that I am just ordinary, and, yet, so is everyone else. I'll put some of the lyrics here but go to the link if you can.

But I'm on the outside and I'm looking in
I can see through you, see your true colors
'Cause inside you're ugly, you're ugly like me
I can see through you, see to the real you.

New Stuff

I ordered these a couple of weeks ago but only today was able to get somewhat decent photos. I'm hoping to start selling them on my site very soon.

There is in every true woman's heart, a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity, but which kindles up and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.

Bloom

I finally finished this piece this morning and put it up on Etsy. Now it's time to start another one...

The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers.

Thoughts of Spring

If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.

Horizons

You must learn day by day, year by year, to broaden your horizon. The more things you love, the more you are interested in, the more you enjoy, the more you are indignant about, the more you have left when anything happens.

Principal's Honor Roll

I'm going to brag a little today. I subbed in B's class on Friday and got to see her get an award for making the Principal's Honor Roll - g.p.a. of 3.5 or better. This is all her motivation to do her best. I'm very proud of her.

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing.

Improv Everywhere

I know this isn't a photo but this is such a great video. I love how this group exists just to bring joy to people's lives.

More of me comes out when I improvise.

Steel

I took this at the art walk at the Brewery the other day so I thought I would post it. I have also posted some new pieces over on Etsy so go check them out!

The finest workers in stone are not copper or steel tools, but the gentle touches of air and water working at their leisure with a liberal allowance of time.

Pink

Almost all words do have color and nothing is more pleasant than to utter a pink word and see someone's eyes light up and know it is a pink word for him or her too.

Brewery Art Walk

I took the kids to the Brewery Art Walk yesterday. It was so cool to see how all these artists live and work in downtown LA. Some of the lofts were just unbelievable. My favorite, though, belonged to an artist named Dave Lefner. He uses his own photography to make reduction linocuts (you'll have to look that up yourself) which is a fascinating process. His loft was just wonderful though. This is a shot of his kitchen. I loved how instead of a wall he has old framed windows. So cool.

Nothing exists until or unless it is observed. An artist is making something exist by observing it. And his hope for other people is that they will also make it exist by observing it. I call it "creative observation." Creative viewing.

To Become

Here is a new piece I started on today in photoshop. I think I like where it's going altho it's not close to being done yet.

Sanity may be madness but the maddest of all is to see life as it is and not as it should be.
~ Don Quixote
