I took the kids to the Brewery Art Walk yesterday. It was so cool to see how all these artists live and work in downtown LA. Some of the lofts were just unbelievable. My favorite, though, belonged to an artist named Dave Lefner. He uses his own photography to make reduction linocuts (you'll have to look that up yourself) which is a fascinating process. His loft was just wonderful though. This is a shot of his kitchen. I loved how instead of a wall he has old framed windows. So cool.
Nothing exists until or unless it is observed. An artist is making something exist by observing it. And his hope for other people is that they will also make it exist by observing it. I call it "creative observation." Creative viewing.
