smith corona, originally uploaded by nicoleraephotos.

We went to a swap meet in Havasu on our way home and found this wonderful typewriter. The sticker said $20, but as we were looking at it the guy came over and said he would take $15. It is in immaculate condition with a case and all of the paperwork. A 1954 Smith Corona with italic type (I've never seen a typewriter with italic type). I think this may be the start of a new collection!

Nice! I actually used one much like that in high school. Hard to believe. That would be a fun collection.

What a fun picture--this triggers memories for me. I got a typewriter of my own in about 8th grade and it was about the most exciting thing ever! Ah, but all those corrections--and the need for carbon sheets to have copies... Amazing how far we have come!

I was amazed that I remembered everything... how to load the paper, center the carriage, set margins, etc. It is definitely amazing how far we've come!

You can make a lot of money off of this typewriter, if you ever choose to sell it. On ebay, they go for several hundred dollars if in good working order. I've been looking for an old typewriter for awhile and you can't find them for $15.00!! Awesome find, gorgeous condition. It's fun, isn't it?

I love how you composed this shot. The tones are wonderful as well ~ really matches the old typewriter. It's a beauty, btw.

Even the tablecloth is a perfect fit! Love the italic font!

You'll never guess what I found (and bought) at the thrift store today...and old S&C typewriter. It's in fairly good shape (for as old as I think it is) and I'm not sure if it'll type or not (one key is up a little more than the others). If it doesn't work I won't be overly upset because it's still in great shape to photograph it and the price was right ($5). I thought of you as soon as I saw it. I've never seen an old typewriter in there before.

Sandy... that is awesome! I hope you'll take pictures of it. You cannot beat $5!
