Today's Class

I started a portraits and lighting class this summer and today had the chance to practice shooting models. It's definitely an interesting experience. The hardest part is having to talk to and direct the model. Not an easy job for an introvert like me.

Through the Looking Glass

Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that.

Bursting

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

School's Out!

I have to brag a little bit. This was B's first year in a public school and I am so proud of her. Not only did she make a lot of new friends and she had fun, but she also made straight A's all year long. She's a great kid!

Paul Rodgers in Concert

I know this isn't even close to Paul Rodgers, but it's a long story. I had a job this weekend working for my sister who is filming a documentary about Paul Rodgers. I was in Corona yesterday for a special concert he put on for the Fender Center. It was very surreal to follow him around all day as he did interviews and take pictures of him and his band. Unfortunately, all of my photos cannot be posted, so you'll just have to take my word that I really was there.

This particular photo was taken on Friday when I had to drive out to Hollywood to pick up camera equipment. If you have ever seen the movie "Confessions of a Superhero" you will recognize this man. Now I can say I've seen a real movie star in Hollywood.

Happiness

I have started gardening again and it is such a joy to look out the window and see flowers...

Seventeen...

It was E's birthday yesterday - 17! So hard to believe. I took these a few weeks ago at some old shacks not far from here that are being torn down. He played model for me for an afternoon for a lighting project for school. I think his graduation photo captures his personality much more than these do.

Side note: I added a subscription button on the side if you would like to get this blog thru your email. :)

Public Transportation

I went out to LA today to supposedly take part in a protest at Union Station. A bunch of photographers were protesting their right to take pictures on public property. When I got there I only saw about 20 people so I ditched them to go shoot. I know, I'm not quite the rebel type. I did have fun taking photos on the subway tho.

People are looking for ways to reduce their transportation costs, and there is no better way to do that than public transportation. People are making what I would call intelligent decisions to take mass transit.
