It must have been 1986. I was in a bookstore in Santa Barbara flipping through a Calvin and Hobbes anthology when my Japanese lit-in-translation teacher at UCSB walked in. "Now THIS is literature," I said with emphasis holding the book cover to face him. He had actually come to look for it as a friend's birthday was coming up.

I am a huge fan of Calvin and Hobbes and try to use their quotes every time I possibly can. :) Definitely great literature!
